Postponed – “A World of Tastes – Culinary Treats from around the World”

We are so excited to be supporting the AAUW Tech Trek summer camp for girls, focused on STEM related programs. Our fundraiser, A World of Tastes, is an opportunity to sample food and drink from various countries, created by our volunteer members. Due to the recommendations in our county regarding COVID 19, we sadly have decided to postpone this event. Contingent on recommendations for people gathering in groups, we do plan to hold this event at a future time. If you have already purchased a ticket, we will be contacting you personally. However, if you would like information about this event and when it is rescheduled, please send us an email to:

Tech Trek is a program run by the American Association of University Women (AAUW). Back in 1998, long before the national conversation around women in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields began, AAUW started noticing a disconnect between young girls and the STEM related pursuits. In researching this,  right around 7th grade. Out of that research, AAUW started the very first Tech Trek summer camp. The program was simple: Teachers nominated girls to attend Tech Trek, where girls stayed on a college campus for a week. Campers performed hands-on experiments, met women role models in STEM careers, and went on field trips to see the science and math they learned in class put into practice. Through hands-on problem solving and encounters with women role models in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), AAUW Tech Trek helps girls see their futures while having nonstop fun. Currently, Tech Trek camps occur at eight universities in California plus in nine  additional states. Locally, our girls attend Stanford. This program is so popular that they now have to hold two weeks of Tech Trek at Stanford to meet the interest! If you hear the names “Camp Curie” and “Camp Hopper”, the San Jose girls attend one, and the Los Gatos/Saratoga girls attend the other. The History Club has been supporting this program since 2008, providing scholarships in both San Jose and Los Gatos/Saratoga. Including the last four years of the Marcella Vandenberg scholarship, we have provide over 30 scholarships for Tech Trek. This year, the funds from our fundraiser will help Camp Curie and Camp Hopper pay for those “extra” kinds of things, such as paying for the buses to transport everyone and updated software for their robotics program!

Thank you to everyone for your support of this wonderful program! If you would like a little more information, this website contains a short video of the program –
